Join us on the second Tuesday in the winter months (Nov-Mar) for a relaxed gathering with tea, coffee, treats, and stimulating discussion.
This year we are exploring motivations for caring about the Great Lakes. We hope to rekindle our personal commitments to protecting the water, and discover some of the keys to connecting others.
February's Cafe: We will dive into the book, Blue Mind by Wallace J. Nichols. Inland Seas will have a handful of copies available for loan. Feel free to borrow one from us, or check your local library or bookseller for a copy. The subtitle of this book is: The Surprising Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, More Connected, and Better at What You Do. In addition to the benefits of water, Wallace also talks about how to help others care about water as much as we do, and hopefully it will help us in our work at Inland Seas to connect people to the Great Lakes.
We will share quotes and passages during the cafe, so it is not a requirement to read any portion of the book to attend. Just come to listen and contribute what's on your mind.
December: Sand County Almanac (1st half)
January; Sand County Almanac (2nd half)
February: Blue mind (1st half)
March: Blue mind (2nd half)
**You can always attend even if you have done nothing to prepare for the cafe.**
